Spotty tree damage was noted from the Beaver Dams area eastward to near Mecklenburg between about 315 and 330 am EDT. Portions of routes 79 and 228 were shut down as the roadways were blocked by tree limbs and live wires.
Strong thunderstorm winds were estimated to be close to 70 mph as they knocked down several large trees in Beaver dams, Montour Falls, and Odessa. One large limb fell on a car. 19,000 electric customers in the area were without power. The village of Montour Falls declared a state of emergency.
