“The Byrdcliffe Colony, also called the Byrdcliffe Arts Colony or Byrdcliffe Historic District, was founded in 1902 near Woodstock, New York by Jane Byrd McCall and Ralph Radcliffe Whitehead and colleagues, Bolton Brown (artist) and Hervey White (writer). It is the oldest operating arts and crafts colony in America.”

Severe thunderstorms ahead of a cold front moved through the Mid-Hudson Valley of New York during the late afternoon hours of June 14th. Torrential rains accompanied the thunderstorms which resulted in flash flooding in parts of Dutchess and Ulster Counties. Thunderstorm winds downed trees and powerlines in parts of Dutchess and Columbia Counties. Flash flooding occurred in the Town of Ulster where buildings were flooded with several feet of water and across parts of Dutchess County where three to four inches of rain fell in a two to three hour period.
