“Ten Mile River Baptist Church, also known as Tusten Baptist Church, is a historic Baptist church on NY 97, at the junction with Cochecton Turnpike in Tusten, Sullivan County, New York. It was built in 1856 and is a small frame meeting house with modest Greek Revival style detailing.”

July 2002LightningTusten$200,000Lightning struck Cortese Auto Body Shop on Route 97. The lightning started an electrical fire which spread quickly to several cans of paint thinner and paint. The building was completely engulfed by the time the fire department arrived. Two people inside the building at the time of the strike got out uninjured. The shop was a total loss. A school bus, several other vehicles, tools and equipment in the shop were all destroyed.
