What happened here
An account from the chapter on Washington township, in the words of 1882.
Wild Animals Game
It is an undisputed fact that panthers were among the wild animals that infested the forests of this district in early times. One of these was killed near Smalley's settlement in this township; another was seen by Capt, Titus, and their terrifying screams were frequently heard resounding through the forest.
