Statement of significance

Certilying official has considered the significance of this property in relation tg other properties: Areas of Significance (enter categories from instructions) State significance of property, and justify criteria, criteria considerations, and areas and periods of significance noted above. preserved example in Ashtabula of Stick-style architecture, a rare style in Stick-style and it is the only house in Ashtabula, of the two or three originally in this style, that still retains a notable degree of integrity.
Other houses of this style have been re-sided, had porches enclosed or removed, or otherwise altered to the detriment of their architectural roof with overhanging eaves, exposed rafters, and decorative fascia boards, is distinguish this house, and are representative stick-style architectural multi-wood staircase, pocket doors, window and door surrounds, and interior shutters. The floor plan is also essentially unaltered. This house was built by Michael Cahill in 1887-1888. In 1905 it was sold to 1887-1888 integrity.
