A 19-year old woman was struck by lightning outside her home as she was attempting to move a large umbrella. She was taken to the local hospital and listed in satisfactory condition.
Widespread trees and power lines down across Dover, Mineral City, and Sherrodsville. Some trees were on homes in these locations, no injuries reported.

Statement of significance
Applicable National Register Criteria Areas of Significance (enter categories from instructions) .ca. 1861-65 State significance of property, and justify criteria, criteria considerations, and areas and periods of significance noted above.
The Christian Pershing Barn is significant under Criterion C, for architecture, as an Sweitzer barns are dual-purpose barns, designed to store harvested crops and to livestock stalls on the lower level and haymows, a central threshing floor, and granaries Sweitzerbarns from other German bank barn types.The forebay usually faces south or east and projects over the lower level Dutch stable doors, thus providing some weather protection for the animals, keeping snow away from the stable doors, and facilitating upslope side of the barn, accessed by an earthen ramp or bank. are the major design elements of this barn type.
Plank siding, wooden louvered vents, are three bays in length, while the Pershing barn, six bays long, is the largest barn Germany and adjacent areas of Switzerland and France (Dornbusch). Christian Pershing, Jr., who built this barn, was born in 1787 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, the grandson of an cattle brought from the West, becoming one of Dover's principal suppliers of beef before his death in 1867.
