Lightning struck a home in Milbank damaging some of the siding, sheet rock, electrical wiring and outlets, and blew a chunk of cement out of the basement.
Significant straight-line wind snapped and uprooted many trees at the cemetery northeast of Milbank. It also destroyed a two-stall shed and another outbuilding had roof damage.
Multiple trees were downed by estimated seventy to eighty mph winds along with many electrical lines downed. A few fires were started by the electrical lines.
Numerous county roads were over topped around Milbank along with a few culverts being washed out. A quick 2 to 3 inches of rain brought on the flash flooding.
Very heavy rains of 4 to over 5 inches resulted in the flash flooding of a few roads north of Milbank. One road was closed for a time due to flash flooding.
Late in the evening in Milbank, lightning damaged a few homes, a carwash, the alarms at two schools, a power pole and a transformer. The wiring in one house was severely damaged and the ham radio was damaged at another house.
Lightning struck a large cottonwood tree in Milbank. Bark and parts of the tree were stripped off heavily damaging the siding of a 32 foot camper and breaking several windows.
Winds gusting to 65 mph in and around Milbank took the roof off a mobile home in southeast Milbank and wrapped it around a utility pole. The people inside the mobile home got out uninjured, but their belongings inside were rain soaked. The Summit Dairy Barn had sustained major damage. The high winds also blew a shed and a large tennis court fence down. Several trees along with many large tree branches were downed all over town. The power was out on the west side of town for a few hours.
