At the time of survey (March of the George Hayward House was owned by the Hingham Historical Society. The building, once owned by Susan Willard Childs, was said to have been moved twice. The last time, in it was moved in three sections to its current location. Originally thought to have been sited across from the Episcopal Church on Main Street, this building was also reputed to have been erected in though the HABS team reckoned it was no later than Materials: There are field notes for the George Hayward House including a questionnaire and typescript copy of a DAR report, "Hingham," that featured a "glory hole, which was at once the vegetable cellar, the ice chest and the safe deposit vault of our ancestors." The field notes were assembled in March of 1 Mr. Wm. W.

Lunt, described as "quite an authority on Hingham history" as well as being the town treasurer, was the source of information for the Hayward House.
