SOLOMON ROCKWELL and Company of WINCHESTER, CONNECTICUT . . . and Judge ELIPHALET AUSTIN of NEW HARTFORD, also in CONNECTICUT. The Township was named for Judge AUSTIN. We have made note of the AUSTIN "Party of Settlers" on page 61. At the time of their arrival in the spring of 1799 there were "only a few others" settled within the bounds of present day ASHTABULA COUNTY.
