Richard Noleman gave bail for def't 8 December 1827 to Robert McDaid, Sheriff. Joseph Darlinton, Clerk, summons sheriff to take Nathan Ballard for safe keeping to answer unto Joseph Lockhart in a plea of debt of $217 and to the damage of Lockhart $200.

Rec'd of David Lovejoy, Adm of estate of Joseph Lovejoy,dec'd, for securing and causing a patent to be granted heirs of N. Massie, dec'd for 250 acres of N. "To the Honorable Judges of the Court in chancery sitting, Humbly complaining, your orators Samuel Boyd, Robert Boyd, John Boyd, Ester Moore, widow, late Ester Boyd, Robert Mills and Margaret his wife, late Margaret Boyd, John McClure and Ann his wife, late Ann Boyd, Charles Callen and Rebecca his wife, late Rebecca Boyd, all of County Donegal in Kingdom of Ireland, heirs at law of their brother Andrew Boyd who lately departed this life intestate in the County of Adams, show that a certain Nathaniel Massie sometime prior to the year 1794 being or pretending to be siezed in fee simple of certain tract of land in Adams County laid out thereon a town now called the town of Manchester and prior to the year 1799 sold a lot containing four acres known on the plat of sd town by out lot #29, and for consideration to a certain John Shanks covenanted by an instrument of writing called a title bond made unto John Shanks a general warranty deed. Which John Shanks covenanted by an instrument of writing called a Title Bond which John Shanks on 27 April 1799, sold sd out lot 29 to Joseph Kerr for consideration and by a title bond of that date obligated himself to convey to Joseph Kerr and also directed Nathaniel Massie to make a good deed to Joseph Kerr. And your orators further show that Joseph Kerr by title bond dated 15 October 1811, for a valuable consideration sold and obligated himself to convey unto Andrew Boyd, since deceased, six out lots in the town of Manchester including the house wherein Kerr formerly lived within six months after date of Title Bond. (1811-1812) Orators charge that out lot #29 1s included in the description of six out lots in Kerr's Title Bond-same on which the house that Kerr formerly occupied is situated. Orators charge that Nathaniel Massie died intestate in or about November 1813, seized of legal title to out lot 29 in consequence legal title to sd lot has descended and is now vested in his heirs, Thompson and his wife ELizabeth Thompson, late Elizabeth Massie, Nancy Massie, Richard Kidder Massie, and Henry Massie (no mention of Nathaniel Jr.) all except Elizabeth Thompson are infants to whom this court will appoint a guardian and make them together with John Shanks and Joseph Kerr defendants to this bill Orators charge that their brother died intestate in Adams County and they are heirs of dec'd brother Andrew Boyd and entitled to legal title of lot #29 containing four acres. A tract of 100 acres, purchased by William and Thomas Robinson from Nathaniel Massie upon receipt of $150 plus interest. Massie since deceased, on or about the second day of November, 1813, leaving Elizabeth Massie, Nathaniel Massie, Richard Kidder Massie, Nancy Massie and Henry Massie, children and heirs with William Creighton Jr. appointed their guardian in Ross County.
