May 2003Tornado (F2)Mineola5 hurt, $330,000A strong cyclic supercell tornado developed over Mineola, Texas while a strong tornado developed shortly there after and moved to the east northeast. Numerous Pine, Oak, and other species of trees were either snapped or pushed over along the entire tornado track. Power lines were taken down across many locations along the track as well. The tornado moved over a small community of Pine Mills and destroyed 1 old frame home and 2 old mobile homes while damaging 9 others. Four injuries occurred including 1 broken leg. This tornado moved into Upshur, Harrison, and Marion Counties of northeast Texas.
April 2010Tornado (EF0)Quitman3 hurt, $75,000The National Weather Service conducted a storm survey in Wood County, Texas and concluded that storm damage was the result of an EF0 tornado. The tornado touched down at around 2:31 AM CDT, about five miles north-northwest of Mineola, along County Road 4919, where it uprooted several large trees. The tornado proceeded east, causing damage to several trees along County Road 4925. Several homes sustained damage east of Lake Fork Texas due to falling trees. The tornado then uprooted a tree along County Road 4930, and lifted soon after. Maximum winds are estimated at 75-85 mph.
April 2025Tornado (EF1)Big Sandy1 hurt, $200,000This is a continuation of the Northeast Smith County tornado. This EF-1 tornado with estimated maximum winds near 110 mph tracked from the Sabine River bottoms across Highway 80 west of Hawkins and south of West Upper Lake, where a fairly intense and concentrated area of snapped pine trees were observed along CR 3440. One home in this area lost a few metal roof panels. The tornado continued northeast, snapping and uprooting more trees as it crossed CR 3431 and CR 3419. One home along CR 3419 suffered the failure of a large, well-built carport. However, the bottom of the wooden posts supporting the carport appeared to be somewhat rotted. The tornado continued to track northeast, crossing CR 3480 and CR 3525. It entered a large area of open land with no roads, but the Shreveport Dopplar Radar indicated a near-continuous tornado debris signature (TDS) for the duration of its lifespan. The tornado caused significant roof damage to a water bottling plant north of Hawkins, with one injury occurring here to a driver in a semi-truck. The tornado once again moved into a large open area with no roads, but the TDS was still observed on radar. The survey team found the damage path again along CR 3550 east of Holly Lake Ranch, where it widened upon crossing into Western Upshur County.

The tornado entered Wood County at 5 NNW Alba. One house and one church were destroyed, one house was unroofed, one RV unroofed, roof damage was done to a house, and extensive tree and power line damage occured.

May 2008Thunderstorm WindWinnsboro$1,000,000A significant straight line wind event with winds of 90 to 100 mph occurred across portions of Wood and Franklin Counties in the vicinity of Winnsboro, Texas. Numerous homes were damaged throughout Winnsboro and surrounding areas from fallen trees. Some of these homes were severely damaged. As a result of hundreds of trees down...water lines into the area were broken and power outages were widespread. Numerous vehicles were also severely damaged in Winnsboro from fallen trees. Several cattle were killed west of Winnsboro near the Hopkins and Wood County line at some dairy farms due to fallen trees and some cattle were still missing a day after the event. A significant number of trees were also downed along County Roads 2408...2403 and 2407 just north of the Wood and Hopkins County line. East of Winnsboro...numerous trees were downed in Wood County along Hwy 11 and FM 852 including the town of Perryville, Texas where trees wee downed around the fire station and around several homes.

As the tornado moved across the southwest inlets of Lake Fork Reservoir and traversed the southern end of the lake, several buildings and homes were destroyed. Most of the damage was to the Brady Marina, The Minnow Bucket Restaurant, two mobile homes, and a recreational vehicle. The tornado then moved across open country, and lifted two miles NNW Quitman near FM 2225.

The tornado continued northeast near the intersection of County Road 4420 and County Road 4430, snapping and uprooting numerous trees, along with damaging a large poultry farm and completely lifting the roof off of a single wide manufactured home. It continued moving in a northeast direction destroying an outbuilding on County Road 4440 before crossing Highway 11 and across County Road 4360 completely destroying a large poultry farm. It was shortly thereafter that the tornado crossed over into extreme Southeast Franklin County near the Scroggins community.

The Ozarka Water Bottling Plant north of Hawkins sustained major roof damage consistent with EF-1 winds estimated between 95-105 mph. More trees were snapped and uprooted as the tornado continued northeast and passed just east of Holly Lake and into Upshur County.

A huge oak tree at the Mineola Civic Center crushed a portion of a wooden bridge and fell on some of the playground equipment.
