The tornado uprooted trees along its path. The Mixon Community was hit the hardest with several homes receiving moderate to severe damage in the Gatewood Estates area of Mixon. One home was completely destroyed.

April 2011Tornado (EF1)Mixon$500Multiple trees were snapped along an 8 mile track just south of the Smith County, Cherokee County line. The tornado touched down 6 miles southwest of Troup, Texas on Hwy. 135 and continued northeast crossing Hwy. 110 before ending just north of FM 13. Damaged consisted of several trees being snapped and uprooted along the path and a small out building was rolled. Winds were estimated at 85-95 mph.
