A post storm survey by Texas Tech University West Texas Mesonet meteorologists revealed a swath of intense wind damage from between Needmore and Baileyboro southward to Enochs. At least 100 utility poles were blown down, some broken near ground-level, and several center irrigation pivots were destroyed. Minor roof damage was noted to several homes in Enochs. The winds were occasionally accompanied with nickel size hail in the Enochs vicinity. Wind-driven hail contributed to significant cotton losses. Wind speeds were estimated to be near 80 mph and event times were estimated based on radar data.

June 2012Heavy RainNeedmore-A NWS employee observed localized flooding from persistent heavy rains over FM 298 four miles east of Needmore. Bar ditches adjacent to a playa lake swelled over a 100-foot stretch of the roadway to a depth of a few inches.
April 2011Tornado (EF0)Needmore-The broadcast media relayed photographs of a non-mesocyclonic tornado which developed beneath a shallow convective cell between 12:40 CST and 12:44 CST on the 26th. Per post-event radar and surface analysis, the tornado occurred during the updraft phase of a small convective shower, apparently due to the vertical stretching of pre-existing low level vorticity. The low-level environment was characterized by very dry air with surface temperatures in the 70s (F) and dewpoints in the 10s (F). A pre-existing surface boundary was not identified, and winds were uniform from a westerly direction.

May 2008HailNeedmore-Multiple reports of large hail were received as a severe thunderstorm impacted a swath from near Maple to Muleshoe. A report of golf ball size hail near Maple was initially relayed by the broadcast media near Maple at 17:30 CST. By 17:33, penny size hail was reported in Muleshoe. Hail stones then grew larger, with nickel size hail reported in the city at 17:40 CST. The hail was also accompanied by damaging winds.

May 2007Flash FloodNeedmore-Local officials reported that numerous roadways in southern Bailey County were impacted by high water following torrential rainfall from strong thunderstorms. The most significant flash flooding was reported to be along Texas Highway 214 near the Muleshoe Wildlife Refuge. No damage was reported.
September 2006HailNeedmore-Multiple reports of large hail that ranged in size from nickels to quarters were received from the Needmore vicinity just before 19:30 CST. The severe storm that impacted the Needmore area was a left-moving (anticyclonic) supercell. Although reports indicated that motorists along Texas Highway 214 encountered hail, no damage was reported.
