As the cluster of storms neared the town of New Mobeetie (Wheeler County), a trained spotter reported quarter size hail (1.00 inch) 2 miles north of New Mobeetie (Wheeler County). After producing this hail, the cluster of storms continued to move east.

While over the town, a member of the public reported half dollar (1.25 inches) size hail. The storm continued to slowly move to the southeast after producing this hail.
September 2013Flash FloodNew Mobeetie-A series of thunderstorm lines moved across the southern Texas Panhandle from the evening hours of the 27th through the early morning hours of the 28th. These thunderstorms were able to tap into a highly moist atmosphere to produce periods of heavy rain. This heavy rain led to flash flooding across portions of Wheeler County. The Wheeler County Sheriff's Office reported that an estimated 6 inches of water was flowing over State Highway 152 at Mobeetie (Wheeler County). This portion of the Highway was barricaded by TXDOT until the flash flooding subsided prior to 5 AM CST on the 28th. No reports of stranded motorist or swift water rescues were reported in association to this flash flooding.

This cluster of thunderstorms moved to the south across the Texas Panhandle. A member of the Mobeetie Fire Department reported a 60 mph downburst 2 miles north of New Mobeetie. The storm that produced this downburst continued moving to the south across the county.

This cluster of thunderstorms moved to the south across the northern Texas Panhandle. A trained storm spotter in New Mobeetie (Wheeler County) reported several tree limbs up to 12 inches in diameter blown down at a school on 5th Street (Wheeler County). The storm that produced this damage continued moving to the south across the county.
