May 2023Flash FloodSummerfield-Numerous thunderstorms trained over the same area in northern Castro County early in the morning of the 27th. In addition to the training, intense rain rates led to flash flooding and many road closures. An estimated seven to nine inches of rain fell over a period of only a few hours. Farm to Market Road 1057 from Summerfield south to Farm to Market Road 2397 was closed due to flooding. Water was also covering several other roads in northern Castro County making them impassable.
May 2022HailSummerfield-Local broadcast media relayed a report of hail up to two inches in diameter along US Highway 385 in far northern Castro County. No damage was reported.

April 2017Flash FloodSummerfield-Very heavy rainfall trained over a large area from northwest of Dimmitt to northeast of Dimmitt. Farm to Market Road 2397 between Farm to Market Road 1055 and US Highway 385 was closed due to high water. A storm survey the next day revealed water was still running over the roadway at some spots. Farm to Market Road 2397 east of US Highway 385 continued to be flooded the next day as well. A pivot irrigation site near the intersection of Farm to Market Roads 2397 and 1055 recorded 4.88 inches of rainfall.
August 2012FloodSummerfield-Torrential rains in excess of four inches fell over the course of one hour in and around the community of Flagg causing extensive flooding of fields and roads. Swift-flowing water was reported to be nearly three feet deep about 3/4 of a mile north of Flagg over FM 1055. An NWS storm survey the following morning noted water was still about 1.5 feet deep over the road. Combined with wind-driven hail, the floodwaters seriously damaged or destroyed many area crops.

August 2008HailSummerfield-A storm chaser reported that pea size hail was accompanied by a few stones up to the size of pennies just south of Summerfield.
August 2008Thunderstorm WindSummerfield-Numerous reports of severe thunderstorm wind gusts were received as a linear convective complex moved southeastward over Castro County. A National Weather Service cooperative observer initially estimated wind gusts up to 60 mph in Summerfield at 18:25 CST. By 18:55 CST the public reported similar wind estimates in Nazareth. The Texas Tech University West Texas Mesonet site near Hart recorded gusts of 61 mph and 60 mph at 19:00 CST and 19:05 CST respectively. An additional report by the public indicated that large tree limbs were blown down southeast of Hart by 19:20 CST.
March 2007HailSummerfield-A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper reported large hail up to the size of nickels on the Parmer and Castro County line just south of U.S. Highway 60 near Summerfield.
May 2001Tornado (F0)Summerfield-A tornado was reported in open country by law enforcement officials just west of Farm-to-Market Road 1057 south of town. The tornado, which remained nearly stationary, was videotaped by a citizen. No NWS storm survey was conducted.
