Regional context, not property-specific evidence. The National Weather Service names Murray, the town this property stands in, in 7 storm reports between 1993 and 2023: 4 hail, 2 thunderstorm wind, 1 heavy rain. No death or injury is recorded in these reports. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date opens the federal record of that event.
| When | Event | Place named | Harm | What the report says |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| July 2021 | Thunderstorm Wind | Murray | $250,000 | Power lines were snapped in Murray, with multiple large trees uprooted throughout town. Carport and car damage occurred, as did damage to business signs and rooftops. |
| June 2005 | Thunderstorm Wind | Murray | $5,000 | Extensive roof damage from large tree on house. |
| August 1993 | Hail | Murray | $5,000 | Tropical moisture surged further north into Utah. This moisture led to the development of severe thunderstorms over the southern portion of Salt Lake County. The rest of the county was hardly touched. The hail accumulated to a 3-inch depth in Herriman. The hail shredded vegetation, and damaged vehicles. |
| August 1993 | Hail | Murray | $500 | Shortly after the above thunderstorms moved out of the area, new thunderstorms redeveloped in the same area. Again, the remainder of the county was hardly touched. In Sandy, the hail piled up to a depth of 2 inches. The hail shredded vegetation, and damaged vehicles. These thunderstorms also had frequent lightning. Lightning that struck a tree in Draper caused a very large branch to fall on some cars in a church parking lot. The damage to the cars was $30,000. The electric current from a nearby lightning strike worked its way into a house in Sandy destroying a television set. Brief heavy rainfall from these thunderstorms caused minor urban flooding. |
| June 2023 | Hail | Murray | - | One inch hail was reported in Murray. |
| August 2011 | Hail | Murray | - | Hail with a diameter of approximately 0.75 inches was observed near Murray. |
| August 2006 | Heavy Rain | Murray | - | Heavy rain fell along the eastern Salt Lake Valley, 1-1.3" in an hour fell from Murray to East MIllcreek. |
