Regional context, not property-specific
evidence. The federal mineral resources record lists
1 working within 5 miles of Magnolia Public Library: 1 past producer.
None of them still produces. What was taken out: Sand and Gravel, Construction. Distance is straight-line from the
map coordinates, so a quarry counted here may appear on a neighbouring
settlement's page as well.
Regional context, not property-specific
evidence. The National Weather Service names
Seattle, the town this property stands in, in 8 storm reports between 1996 and 2015: 2 lightning, 1 flood, 1 thunderstorm wind, 1 tornado.
The reports record 1 death. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office
filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date
opens the federal record of that event.
In the Madison Valley area of Seattle, heavy rainfall produced excessive street runoff, flooding about 25 basements and drowning one woman trapped in her basement by rapidly rising water.
In Shoreline, heavy rainfall caused a section of concrete to give way in the tunnel leading to a Metro bus barn under the I-5 HOV lanes between 165th and 175th Streets. Repairs to those lanes were completed two days later.
