History of Barron County Wisconsin, published 1922 names this settlement in its chapter on Rice Lake Town. These are the passages that mention it, exactly as the scans read.

St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church was started in 1880, as a mission from Our Lady of Lourdes at Dobie, by Rev. J. Dole. Tbe brick church building was erected in the same year. The first resident pastor was Rev. M. Schoelch. He remained eight months, when the church again became a mission of Stanfold. This method of min¬ istration was continued until July 9, 1889. when Rev. P. Becker was appointed rector. Under his pastorate the parsonage was erected in 1889, and St. Joseph's school in 1890. Both are of brick. The latter is 30 by 60 feet, with two stories and base¬ ment.
