WhenEvent Place namedHarm What the report says
May 2020Flash FloodPhipps$3,250Heavy rainfall the night before of 2-3 inches led to the failure of a privately-owned dam on the Mosquito Brook Flowage. When the dam gave way, a surge of water moved downstream about 2.5 miles to the Namekagon River. Culverts at both Mosquito Brook Road and Porky's Road were overwhelmed with two feet of water about 100 yards wide at both locations. This flooding cut off access to multiple homes and caused damage to roadways. Additionally, bridge damage was reported to an ATV trail and to the Birkebeiner ski trail at the crossings of Mosquito Brook. No damage was reported to any buildings or homes. Roads remained closed into the 28th before water receded.
