Population over time
2 figuresFairview grew from 275 to 277 between 2010 and 2020. These are the recorded population figures Wikidata holds for this place, reached through the Geographic Names Information System number this page is keyed on rather than by name, so they belong to this place and not to another of the same name. Most are census counts, but not all are: an early figure may be a founding or settlement estimate, and an estimate published within five years of a census is left out. The change column is computed, and is left blank where more than 20 years separate a figure from the one before it, because a gap that long is not a change between two counts.

Storms near this place
4 since 2011Regional context, not property-specific evidence. The National Weather Service names Fairview in 4 storm reports between 2011 and 2020: 3 flood, 1 thunderstorm wind. No death or injury is recorded in these reports. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date opens the federal record of that event.
| When | Event | Place named | Harm | What the report says |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| May 2011 | Flood | Fairview | $50,000 | Rising temperatures quickly melted low elevation snow in the mountains of extreme eastern Idaho. This caused flooding of Spring, Tin Cup, Crow, Jack Knife, and Stump creeks along the western edge of Star Valley. A few homeowners were forced to sandbag around their homes, build temporary levees, or dig trenches to provide relief from the rising flood waters. These tributaries fed the broad and relatively flat valley of the Salt River. Lowlands near the Salt River were inundated with water, especially north of Thayne to around the Double L Ranch near Etna. |
| May 2020 | Thunderstorm Wind | Fairview | - | Outflow winds from a thunderstorm brought damage to portions of the Star Valley. A wind gust of 60 mph was reported at the Afton, Wyoming airport. There were numerous reports of trees down as well as power lines, resulting in power outages. The worst damage was noted in Fairview, Wyoming as well as between Grover and Auburn, Wyoming. |
| March 2017 | Flood | Fairview | - | Rain and warm temperatures brought rapid snow melt that brought minor flooding to some homes around Crow Creek near Fairview. Sandbagging was effective in diverting water around homes and there was no damage. |
| May 2011 | Flood | Fairview | - | Snowmelt and rainfall combined to raise water levels on the Salt River and its tributaries in Star Valley. A private road and Fairview South Road were partially or completely submerged by flood waters in the vicinity of Fairview. Stump Creek near Auburn and both Crow and Spring creeks near Fairview climbed out of their banks inundating cropland. Along the Salt River, the water was running highest between the communities of Freedom and Etna. |
