The history of Knox County was published 35 years before the first of these atlases, and it names this establishment.

A Congregational church was organized in Fredericktown about 1841, by a Mr. Mead, who was at that time preaching to a church in Mt. Ver- The prime movers in the organization were Joseph Hitchcock, and Pascal Dunklee, both men of means and liberality. Among the early members of the society were Messrs.
