The history of Worcester County was published in the same year as the first of these atlases, and it names this establishment.

Some of the elders here in their youth attended Leicester Academy, whose centennial was kept in 188-4. At present our youug people take advantage of the nearness and excellence of Worcester's varied institutions of learning.
