Named in the 1905 county history

The history of Butler County was published 13 years after the first of these atlases, and it names this establishment.

W. H. Todhunter was chosen as chairman of the day and, in a few brief words, presented the deed for the section to J. R. Allen, trustee, who in turn accepted it in an appropriate way. Timely and fitting addresses were made by Dr. Dan Millikin, of Hamilton, and Rev. Lyman J. Fisher, of Middletown. Dr. J. H. Paine, a veteran soldier and a local deacon in the Methodist Episcopal church, was present and acted as chaplain. Since that day this beautiful plat of ground has been held as a consecrated spot.
