Named in the 1885 county history

The history of Portage County was published 13 years before the first of these atlases, and it names this establishment.

The first Universalist Church was built in 1837. It was burned down, and rebuilt in 1868. Resident ministers have been very few. The Universalists have as their present pastor Kev. Andrew Wilson, and the Methodists have Rev. Huston.
