September 2019Thunderstorm WindMesaville$10,000Monsoon thunderstorms developed across portions of far eastern Riverside County along the lower Colorado River Valley during the evening hours on September 1st. One of the stronger storms generated very gusty and damaging outflow winds estimated to be as high as 60 mph. According to Caltrans, or the Department of Highways, gusty winds downed power lines across Riverfront Road about 14 miles northeast of Blythe and near Highway 95. No injuries were reported as a result of the downed lines.
September 2019Flash FloodMesaville$2,000Scattered thunderstorms developed along the lower Colorado River Valley during the afternoon hours on September 26th. Some of the stronger storms produced very heavy rain with peak rain rates over one inch per hour. The heavy rain led to an episode of flash flooding along Highway 95 between the towns of Blythe and Parker. According to a trained weather spotter, at 1444PST flash flooding was occurring in multiple spots about 14 miles north-northeast of Blythe. Water was seen running over Highway 95 near Mile Marker 16 making the road impassable. Fortunately there were no reports of any accidents due to the flash flooding and hazardous driving conditions. A Flash Flood Warning was in effect at the time of the flooding.
September 2023Flash FloodMesaville-An incident report from California Highway Patrol said there was flooding along Hwy-95, prompting a call for a potential closure of the highway. No injuries or damages were reported.
August 2016FloodMesaville-Thunderstorms with locally heavy rain affected portions of far eastern Riverside county during the overnight hours starting August 20th and continuing into the morning hours on August 21st. Some of the heavier rains occurred along the lower Colorado River valley and resulted in areas of flooding along Highway 95. At 0745PST local law enforcement reported that Highway 95 was closed due to flooding from milepost markers 5 to 35 in far eastern Riverside county. The flooding was also located about 15 miles to the east of the town of Midland. The flooding was a result of rains that occurred earlier during the overnight and morning hours. A Flood Advisory was issued during the morning hours on August 21st due to the flooding.
