Population over time
2 figuresEdgewater grew from 20,750 to 23,097 between 2010 and 2020. These are the recorded population figures Wikidata holds for this place, reached through the Geographic Names Information System number this page is keyed on rather than by name, so they belong to this place and not to another of the same name. Most are census counts, but not all are: an early figure may be a founding or settlement estimate, and an estimate published within five years of a census is left out. The change column is computed, and is left blank where more than 20 years separate a figure from the one before it, because a gap that long is not a change between two counts.

| August 2010 | Tornado (EF0) | Edgewater | $58,000 | As a line of thunderstorms moved from the mainland to the Volusia County coast, a|waterspout formed over Browns Bay, a marshy area east of the intracoastal river. The waterspout moved onshore the adjacent barrier island in New Smyrna Beach and produced minor damage as it crossed to the Atlantic coast. Six homes received minor damage, and one home experienced more extensive damage as a small part of roofing plywood and shingles was removed. Insulation was blown to the ocean about a half mile away. See separate waterspout entry. |
| January 1993 | Hail | Edgewater | $50,000 | Strong downburst winds damaged 9 mobile homes. Most had aluminum awnings, carports, and family rooms ripped away. Trees and power lines were downed. Up to golf ball-size hail also fell. |

The original roof was not damaged. A nearby mesonet site recorded wind gusts of 45-55 mph as the rainband moved by. |
| August 2010 | Tornado (EF0) | Edgewater | $5,000 | A waterspout developed over the intracoastal waterway and moved onshore and inland for a short distance before dissipating as the circulation approached US Highway 1. The waterspout developed in association with an isolated, heavy shower that peaked in intensity near the time of the touchdown. The waterspout moved onshore the mainland as a very weak tornado and first impacted Cameron's Marina, where a small boat on a trailer was overturned, damaging an adjacent pickup truck. The weak tornado then continued moving inland on a northwest track, causing soffit damage to another residence and minor tree damage along the remainder of the path. The waterspout/tornado was observed and photographed by many individuals. Interestingly, a condensation funnel was not visible throughout its short life cycle, however, swirling water and debris were apparent and were lifted far aloft. See separate event for waterspout. |
