The victim was doing lawn maintenance when lightning struck a nearby tree, and the lightning jumped to the victim. First responders performed CPR and revived the unresponsive victim at the scene. The man was transported to Halifax Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
July 2022LightningMission City1 hurtLocal broadcast media relayed reports that a 66-year-old man was injured after lightning struck nearby at the AutoZone on State Road 44 in New Smyrna Beach. Bystanders called first responders after seeing the man on the ground. The man was taken to Advent Health where he was treated for minor injuries and later released.
