Thunderstorm winds damaged the roofs of 23 homes, downed trees atop a few vehicles, snapped several large branches and downed power lines along Trails End Road.
Broadcast media reported Fire Rescue crews reported to the scene of a house fire in Floral City, FL, believed to be caused by a lightning strike. No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported. Damage was estimated to be around $95,000.
An F0 tornado touched down and toppled a few large trees, several branches and power lines in the Heatherwood subdivision, 4.5 miles west southwest of Floral City, in eastern Citrus county. Most of the damage occurred along South Hammock Avenue, South Juneau Point and County Road 581 before the small tornado lifted and dissipated.
Several trees uprooted and/or with large broken limbs in Heatherwood and Flutter Terrace areas around 480 and 581. There were also numerous power lines down from trees falling onto them and several poles were leaning significantly as well.
A thunderstorm wind gust of up to 50 mph toppled a lone water oak tree onto the garage of a home along the 6800 block of Duval Island Drive in Floral City.
The Citrus County emergency manager relayed a report received from a Sheriffs deputy of multiple downed trees and an overturned car port near Floral City.
