“The Fessenden Elementary School, a historic school previously known as Fessenden Academy, was founded in 1868 on the outskirts of Ocala, Florida, between Martin and Zuber. Since the 1950s, it has been part of the Marion County Public Schools district.”

March 2010FloodOcala$1,000Heavy rainfall was first reported in Marion county around 10:15 am by a trained storm spotter who measured 3 inches of rain in 30 minutes time near Rainbow Lakes Estates. Around 12:20 pm a spotter about 3 miles east of Ocala measured 2.25 inches of rain since 8 am. Later around 2:30 pm, a spotter near 103rd Street and 84th Avenue southwest of Ocala measured 6 inches of rainfall between 8 am and 1 pm. At 3 pm, a spotter near Northeast 36th Avenue and Northeast 35th Street recorded 5.85 inches of rainfall between 8 am and 3 pm. At 3 pm, the county emergency manager reported numerous roads were flooded in and near Ocala. At the time, there were no road closures. No property damage estimate was available, but a default of $1,000 was entered which may account for road repair in the wake of the flood.
