Was born in South Carolina, a freeman, in 1782. He came to Tennessee, and afterward to Wayne County, Ind., and again to Darke County, Ohio, Greenville settlement - the latter movement in 1888. He had thirteen children, eleven of whom became grown and were married and nine are now living. Their names were William, James, Priscilla. Lucy, Silas, Lewis, Daniel, Thomas, Caroline, John, Joel, Sidna, Biddy. He died in 1848. His wife, Polly, died in 1870. She is said to have been several years older than her husband, and to have been upward of a hundred years old when she died, in 1876. If so, she must have been born before the Declaration of Independence was made, and she had lived through the entire period of our independent national existence.
