Some Marriage Waco Texas anti Mountain View Oklahoma are man and wife according to a marriage ceremony solemnly pronounced last Monday by Justice of the Peace Sam Payne The ceremo ceremony - ny ceremony was duly witnessed and nothing short of a divorce suit can restore them to their former state It came about this way: D Jennings of Waco Texas Monday morning applied to fudge Carpenter for a license to marry Mrs Iva Barnard of Mountain View Okla In the absence of the license clerk the fudge always desirous of being accommodating made out the license himself and delivered it to the high contracting parties and it is said although we do not state it as a fact that the blank spaces for the names of the towns and the applicants were reversed At any rate Justice of the Peace Sam Payne was called in to make the two hearts beat as one and of course his was beat beating - ing beating a tattoo and -nire drum ae eompaniment So when he called the two young people out for execution and had them join hands he said: "Mr Waco Texas do you take Mrs Mountain View whom you hold bv the right hand to be your lawful and wedded wife" etc At this juncture Carpenter taw that the wrong parties were being yoked up for life so he yelled in a loud w hisper caliing attention to the fact that the groom's nam wasn't Mr Waco Texas but Mr Kilnings Payne v no back and dug up another niun ami began am w this time saying: ''Mr Jennings do ou take Mrs Mountain View whom you hold by the right hand to be your lawful and wedded wife" etc on to the end thereby hitching thorn lip for life Now here is a nice point of law for the legal fraternity to quibble over: Are Waco Texas and Mountain View legally mar ried or are D Jennings and Mountain View to be considered husband and wife? If the for former - mer former are legally married is not the latter marriage void ab initio? Another question: Are Waco Texas and Mountain View ex expected - pected expected together? If so where?
