Summary Paragraph The Wilson-Falkner-Baldauf House is located on Center Road, State Route 83, Avon Township, in an area zoned extending along the south elevation.
A wood-sided former summer kitchen and enclosed porch extends off the back and rubble fieldstones with cut sandstone quoins and water table similar to façade. All windows feature large flat cut sandstone lintels and sills. The walls are 21inches thick. The front entrance is very elaborate with carved wood pilasters, transom wing (the second window in is somewhat oddly positioned right at the corner of the 2 story block), a slightly off-center doorway and two additional windows and three windows in the second floor of the main block. The windows throughout are one-over-one wood windows (c. 1995) with wood surrounds and the previously described stone lintels and sills.
The Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) documentation dating to the 1930s presents two different window versions entrance surround with wood pilasters, 5 single-paned sidelights with lower wood panel, dentils and 6 single-paned The interior of the house retains its original plan and features with very few changes. The front entrance opens into a wide turned wood spindles on the railing and newel post. The original first floor interior doors are solid wood with recessed panels and wide wood architrave with "Greek ears." The first floor interior windows in the center hall and front two rooms have similarly detailed architraves.
The windows throughout have deep sills, canted sides and wood bases with recessed (music room) features an elaborately detailed fireplace mantel reflecting mid-nineteenth century decorative detailing, described in the HABS report as "Original fireplace in Music room. Sheet iron decorated to simulate wood inlay work with and the exposure of the brick and addition of a mantel shelf above the fireplace. Other first floor changes include the enclosing of the back stairs; addition of a bath in a small room off the living room along the south side; the addition of modern kitchen cabinets and appliances in the rear kitchen wing and the enclosing of the side porch and former summer kitchen off the kitchen wing. The second floor plan is essentially intact with the conversion of a bedroom into a bathroom in the 1970s.
The woodwork and trim throughout the second floor is much simpler and plainer with no significant ornamentation. Both the first and second floors feature wide wood baseboards and wood floor boards.
