Description of the property

The old Goodwin-Baggott-Eagle-Mountford Pottery, before its partial razing in 1969-70, extended from Second St. to Pink Alley, which is parallel with shows that the Baggott property was bisected by the railroad line, extending published in 1886 by the firm of Ruger & Stoner of Madison, Wisconsin, shows section of the plant, which was in a state of complete ruin, was razed in the bottle kiln contained within those walls, were saved. Statement of significance

The upright or "bottle" kiln is by far the oldest of the three remaining in the East Liverpool, Ohio, area, once a thriving center for the production of yellow ware and Rockingham, and is one of the oldest kilns of its type McCord, in his Columbiana County history, states: "It was about 1847 that John Goodwin, the Brunts, William Bloor, Jabez Vodrey and the ambitious firm of Woodward, Blakely & Co. all appeared as manufacturers of yellow East Liverpool, arriving in 1842 from St. Louis and working for a time for the Bennetts and later for Benjamin Harker. In the latter part of the 1840's, to operate it until 1853, when he sold the works to S. and W.
