W. Washington, D. C. 20240 Attention: Jerry Rogers CERTIFIED MAIL Dear Jerry: Enclosed are the National Register nominations for: Billerica, Sabbath Day House; Boston, Second Harrison Gray Otis House (re-submission); *Lincoln, Hoar Tavern * Milton, Suffolk Resolves House; Pittsfield, South Mountain Concert Hall; Salem, Chestnut Street District. These have been declared eligible for submission by the Massachusetts Historical Commission, the State Review Board, and have been signed by the Secretary of the Commonwealth, John F. X. Davoren, Chairman of the Massachusetts Historical Commission and designated State Preservation Officer.
*The Hoar Tavern in Lincoln is presently threatened by the proposed widening of Route 2. The relocation of Route 2 away from the house, as proposed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Works and supported by the Town of Lincoln, would result in saving the property and is necessary to the plans for restoration. National Register listing would enhance the chances of this property's Town of Milton is sponsoring the publication of a commemorative edition of the Suffolk Resolves early this fall and would like very much to indicate in the book that the property has been listed in the National Register. For these reasons we would like to request that the Hoar Tavern in Lincoln and the Suffolk Resolves House in Milton receive your prompt attention. Sincerely, Elijakett Q. Amaden Elizabeth R.
