of the Interior Heritage Conservation and Recreation Services Washington, D.C. 20240 Re: H32-NR Peguoig Hotel Dear Mr. Murtagh: The Gardner Savings Bank, whom we represent as counsel, is now the owner of the Pequoig Hotel in Athol, Massachusetts, which has been nominated for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Negotiations for the sale of this property are still in progress. Since the purchaser plans to rehabilitate this building after the sale, we believe it would be best to postpone the listing in the National Register until the sale is consummated. In that way, the buyer could take advantage of the various tax and other benefits, while monitoring compliance with the rehabilation standards. we, therefore, respectfully request that the listing of the Pequoig Hotel in the National Register be postponed until its new ownership is resolved.
