Description of the property

by Huffman, Davis, Gilbert, and Hollier streets in the City of Dayton. Statement of significance

Dayton's 19th century architectural fabric, and are the work of a master car- penter, Philip Gilbert. The main house was originally a vernacular structure built in the 1860s and remodeled with a high degree of craftsmanship and unusual Philip E. Gilbert was born in Miltonville, Ohio in 1845. He completed his education as a carpenter. In 1868, Philip moved to Dayton, where he became a close acquain- When Philip died in 1929, the property went to Edwin, one of his ten children. and his sister, Helen. Since then, the house has passed through numerous owners.
