Description of the property

The house faces west on South Main Street at the southeast corner of Apple The two-story house, basically rectangular in plan, sits on a rockface lime- The left bay is a round corner tower with curving 1/1 double hung sash windows and has multi-paned windows and strapwork; box cornice with brackets, dentils and The semicircular doors have! seven panels each. Statement of significance

The Rudolph Pretzinger House is an outstanding example of Queen Anne archi- Rudolph's brother, Albert, an architect who took charge of the major Dayton archi- He became the architect of many major buildings in Dayton. immigrated to Ohio in 1854. The father died in 1863 and sixteen-year-old Rudolph his diploma in 1865. After a decade working for others, he opened his own firm successful, especially after developing and manufacturing a new drug, "Pretzinger's Catarrh Balm". junior. He built the new house at Main and Apple for his new bride. Pretzinger lived in this house until his death on 14 February 1909. His widow continued to live in the house until about 1920. In recent years, it has been the residence of the Miami Valley Hospital Administrator. At the moment, it is vacant.
