Cora is significant because of its relatively long period of operation, even after many other mills closed. All of the Cora Mill was built.c. 1845 by Charles Giles who came to Gallia County from Maine. Mr. Giles adopted a son, Aaron David (Daviés) who later operated the mill, giving it, Mr. Davis added a sawmill which was destroyed in the 1913 flood; in 1890 he modernized miles around to enjoy picnics, swimming and the mill view. The property is now owned by the son-in-law and daughter of the park owner, themselves descendants of the original Welsh settlers of the area.
