Some original windows have been blocked, some and round-arched on the third.

All windows are trimmed with elaborate incised stone lintels. Statement of significance

(in one paragraph) Clossman Hardware is nominated for its architectural significance in that it embodies many of the physical characteristics of the commercial aspect of the Victorian Italianate style. This mode literally blanketed "Main Street America" from the mid- nineteenth century until the First World War. Features typical of commercial Italianate accented by a height-to-width ratio of up to 3-to-1 and a boldly projecting cornice Zanesville's Main Street was characteristic of many towns that had principal thorough- Zanesville has lost many of its 19th century buildings, and many of those which remain time of construction of the store. an intluential local businessman, merchant and -- especially in the case of Clossman Isaac Clossman's son, George became the company's president.
