Statement of significance

(in one paragraph) -economics there until 19o0 when a separate plant was built one-half block to the south.At that time Cosgrave (1848-1917)a principal in the firm of Harper G Cosgrave whose wholesale grocery ware- military _ archeology-prehistoric - community planning seventy years. It was built during the summer of 1896 under the ownership of William Brower south half of the building from c. 1914 through the 1950s. It should be noted that while W. W. Harper was not directly involved with the ownership of the structure, newspaper accounts from art house was located one door north of the nominated property.The building was built specifically Cosgrave moyed his shoe factory into the north half and the Yound Hardware occupied the south. was so named in honor of Captain John C. Hazlett, of 2d O. V. I., and his cousin, Harry Hazlett, of the 5th U.S. Artillery, both of whom were killed during the Civil war; the post was organized June 1, 1881, with the following officers: C. C.
