(in one paragraph) The Middleport Library is historically and architecturally significant for its associations with the Carnegie Corporation library grant movement of the early twentieth century and as a reflection of this small rural southeastern Ohio In 1909 the Library Board began corresponding with the Carnegie Corporation to the assessed value of property in Middleport, which amounted to $7500.00, for buy the lot on which to bulld the library.
