8 since 2007The National Weather Service names Macon in 8 storm reports between 2007 and 2024: 4 thunderstorm wind, 3 hail, 1 tornado. No death or injury is recorded in these reports. Each account below is quoted exactly as the forecast office filed it, from the NOAA Storm Events Database, and each date opens the federal record of that event.
| When | Event | Place named | Harm | What the report says |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| April 2007 | Tornado (EF0) | Macon | $50,000 | A tornado touched down near Tri County Road and continued towards the intersection of Melblanc and Steele Roads in northeast Brown County. Five to ten trees were either uprooted or were snapped off towards the tops, with additional large limbs and branches knocked down from other trees. A trampoline was picked up and moved, and a large front porch on a home along Steele Road was torn off with the roof tossed several yards. Large pieces of siding and roof from at least one barn were carried a hundred yards. This tornado was rated EF-0 with top wind speeds around 80 mph. |
| March 2012 | Thunderstorm Wind | Macon | $20,000 | Numerous trees and powers poles were reported down and a camper trailer was flipped. Fences were blown down in the area and an old barn collapsed. Based on the survey, this damage was determined to be caused by straight-line non-tornadic winds estimated at 75 miles per hour. |
