“At a regular meeting of the congregation, held August 9, 1828, the name of the society was changed from the Salem Baptist church to the First Baptist church of Middletown, Ohio. In the winter of 1828 it was agreed that a new brick church should be built and the act of incorporation was secured and Jacob Deerdorff, Thomas Royal and David Taylor were chosen as trustees.”
