“Stevens Warren Flower, late a highly respected and influential citizen of Toledo, at one time a resident of Maumee, a gallant soldier in the great Civil war, and for many years an active and prominent figure in commercial and religious circles in the county, was a native of the old Empire State, having first beheld the light of day in the town of Clayton, Jefferson county, New York, Aug. 21, 1832. He was descended of highly honorable ancestry.”

In 1850 he entered into a professional partnership with H. B. Curtis, of Mt. Vernon, which continued for nineteen years, when Mr. Scribner removed to Toledo and became associated with the late Frank H. Hurd. Prior to this Mr. Scribner had been elected a member of the Ohio Senate from the district comprising Holmes, Wayne, Knox and Morrow counties, and while there he was chair¬ man of the Judiciary Committee. In the Senate he introduced the Criminal Code prepared by Frank H. Hurd, his predecessor in the Senate, and himself prepared the Municipal Code of the State.

Judge Scribner was married Oct. 20, 1847, to Miss Mary E. Morehouse, of Homer, Ohio, and was the father of four daughters and four sons, the eldest of whom became his business partner, in 1871, and is still a well known member of the Toledo bar.

Several seasonal and year round properties need to be elevated due to repeated flooding this year.

Rainfall rates at times exceeded two inches per hour. A total of 4.04 inches was measured near downtown Toledo. Widespread urban and lowland flooding was reported in Toledo and West Toledo. Flooding was reported on dozens of streets and highways including Interstate 475. Many roads had to be closed because of flood waters two to three deep. Many vehicles became stranded in the flood waters and several people had to rescued. Hundreds of homes sustained damage, mainly from basement flooding.

Description of the property

a main thoroughfare to Toledo's CBD, and is built of bricks, painted red, with stone and wood trim, painted white. The plan is typically irregular in plan, and is 2% steeple, capped by iron cresting and a weather vane, sits atop a tower which is centered incised panels, runs around the top of the second storey, under the eave, and connects Extensive carved and incised woodwork exists on many parts of the building, particularly in the gables, above the main and side entrances, on the front and side porches, and on A smooth cut, bevelled stone water table surrounds the building. The ashlar cut, rock- truncated near the roof edge with gablet, creating a hipped look. Originally, a cupola rested atop the barn, and a smaller gabled roof portion existed DATE DETERIORATED XEXCELLENT (side).
This Queen Anne residence shares an entire city block with only two other structures-- connecting the lintels of the first storey windows. stories in height. are all flat-topped with carved stone lintels.A horizontal band of stonework with Five molded brick chimneys pierce the multi-gabled roof.A deeply pitched pyramidal CHECK ONE A horizontal band of stone runs around the building between the first and second storey, faced limestone foundation is pierced by segmentally arched basement windows.
