Heavy rainfall and rapid snow melt on the morning of Februar 28th resulted in a the Gates Mill dam failing. This low head dam was located along the Chagrin River in the town of Gates Mill. The released flood waters caused no additional damage from the ongoing flooding downstream on the Chagrin, which was already at moderate flood levels.

When this property was proposed for the
National Register, someone wrote the case for it: what the building is,
and why it matters. That document is a federal record in the public domain.

Description of the property
entablature. Dormer windows were added 1902-04. The first floor consisted mainly Classical revival architecture, especially the four massive Roman Doric columns, it also designed the Tiferth Israel Temple in 1924. The library is a 20 x 25 foot room additions or historical periods. The main axis is north-south, facing the Chagrin of what is now the "Keeping Room", There is little decoration.
