37 Eagle Street is part of the Eagle Street/Monument Square District listed with the National Register. Description: The Italianate style, two-story three-bay structure with twenty-five feet of frontage, faces east on Eagle Street. The building has a flat built up roof and wood cornice. The exterior wall fabric is brick which is covered on the exposed side and rear by stucco. The exterior of the first floor is made up of two large plate glass windows. The entrance door to the storefront is recessed five feet with two panels of glass on each side recessed two feet. The secondary entrance to the second floor is to the right and is also recessed five feet. Both doors appear to have been installed around the The second floor facade originally had three small double hung windows.

One window was removed and replaced with a small door to access a fire escape. The north side of this structure adjoins the building to the north. One very small double hung window remains on the south side of the structure. All other windows have been covered with brown stucco. History: According to Assessor's records and records at the Northern Berkshire Registry of Deeds it seems likely that the building was constructed sometime between when Martha Manchester bought the property from Henry Holden for and when she sold it to a saloon keeper, John Darrow for During this time, the adjacent house to the north was owned by Jane Cady, who seems to have allowed the cornice of the new brick store to overhang the eaves of the house.

John Darrow owned it for a period of fifteen years, at which time it housed a boot and shoe store. In John Barry bought the building and sold it in to Owen Welch. In Mary Angel purchased this building. The building was used as a grocery store during the and Thereafter, the building has been used for a variety of commercial uses. The Adams Co-operative Bank is the present owner of the building and plans to demolish the structure, together with Eagle Street, in connection with the construction of a branch office building. 37 EAGLE STREET (Commercial Building) HABS.
