The passengers all managed to get out of the car but were immediately swept away. Nearly every road between Fairfield and Mexia and Fairfield and Wortham was under water. Numerous bridges were washed out or heavily damaged around the county. The Tawakoni Bridge on Interstate 45 was damaged. The Wortham City Hall was damaged by water in the building. The lake near Wortham overflowed its dam and flooded nearby roads with up to three feet of water. Many motorists were stranded in rural parts of the county.
June 2023Thunderstorm WindFairfield$500,000Downburst and straight-line winds caused considerable damage along a line from south of Fairfield in Freestone County to Buffalo in Leon County. Notable, consistent tree damage was observed along Interstate 45 with large trees uprooted and at least one electrical tower partially bent. Along SH 164 west of Buffalo but just inside the Freestone County line, four electrical tower trusses were collapsed. October 2015Flash FloodDonie$250,000Numerous county roads were covered in water after several hours of rainfall. Several roads had to be closed due to the high water. Small portions of CR 540 and CR 210 were washed away by flood waters. On CR 210, a driver crashed into what a sinkhole. He was not injured, but the truck was a total loss. The County Commissioner said the road was closed for about two weeks.

Water entered one house on Highway 84 in Teague. 4 houses on the northeast side of Teague were evacuated as Turtle Creek quickly rose.

December 2024Tornado (EF0)Freestone$50,000A brief tornado formed in southwest Freestone County, just west of the Freestone Community. The tornado traveled a distance of approximately one half mile, and primarily affected two structures off of Freestone County Road 841. Both structures were residences. The first residence had a portion of the aluminum cladding from its roof removed by the tornado. A nearby outbuilding and wellhouse also sustained damage. The tornado also impacted a nearby manufactured home, pushing the structure slightly off of its foundation piers. Some damage to the residence's porch roofs also occurred. The tornado subsequently crossed Freestone County Road 841, damaging large limbs on several hardwood and softwood trees lining the road. The tornado then crossed into an open field, traveled an additional 200 yards, and dissipated.
May 2005Thunderstorm WindTeague$50,000Large trees fell on at least two porches, causing significant damage. A mobile home was blown across a street. Glass was blown out of a storefront on Highway 84. A large oak tree fell onto a mobile home, and a barn was also destroyed. Numerous trees and power lines were also knocked down throughout town.

January 2007Heavy RainTeague$40,000Saturated grounds caused a 40-foot oak tree to fall onto a house. The fallen tree caused the carport to collapse, crushing a car. The tree broke windows in the side of the house and tore a large hole in the roof. The weather observer for the town reported 6.5 inches of rain in the 48 hours prior to the occurrence.

Local officials and the newspaper also reported flooding of Hwy 84W in Teague at the railroad bridge, Hwy 75 in Streetman at the railroad bridge, CR 750, FM 488 at 2570, CR 1040 at Hwy 80, FM 2547 near FM 833, FM 830 near FM 488, FM 930, part of FM 80 in the Donie area, and FM 290 near its intersection with FM 280 where a high water rescue was performed.

Multiple tree damage was found along E FM 489 road. The tornado continued to move northeast producing additional tree damage along with significant roof damage to one home near CR 471 and FM 489. The tornado dissipated shortly after crossing this road. Maximum estimated winds were 80 mph.
