Thunderstorms began bowing out across Lamb and western Hale Counties creating a line of destructive winds. According to a local agricultural producer, at least 35 irrigation center pivots were flipped in the area. An NWS storm survey found an out building that had been destroyed as well as a flipped RV. Several of the flipped irrigation center pivots were also found around the intersection of Farm to Market Roads 179 and 1071. Based on the damages observed, winds were estimated between 80 and 90 mph.
August 2013HailHalfway$300,000A citizen reported golf ball size hail east of Halfway. Damage to center pivots, grain crops, and half a dozen power poles was reported in the area between Edmonson and Hale Center due to the large hail and strong thunderstorm winds.
April 2015HailHalfway$250,000A swath of hail ranging in size from nickel to golf ball size fell from west of Plainview east across the city. Damage was generally minor and consisted mostly of vehicle dents, though some homes and businesses suffered damage to roof shingles. Very little wind accompanied the hail.
April 2007Tornado (EF2)Halfway$200,000A large and long-tracked tornado cut a path of damage twenty-nine miles in length and at times nearly three-quarters of a mile wide across portions of Lamb, Hale, Castro and Swisher Counties between 17:57 and 18:36 CST on the 21st. Total damages from the tornado were estimated to exceed $1.2 million, and one person was injured.|The large tornado tracked across northwestern Hale County between 18:10 and 18:18 CST. Local newspaper reports indicate that the most notable damage along the tornado's path in northwestern Hale County occurred to numerous center pivot irrigation systems. At least ten irrigation systems were reportedly destroyed in fields west and northwest of Halfway.|Damage caused by the tornado east of Olton (Lamb County) supported an EF-2 rating with winds estimated between 110 and 120 mph.|
October 2007Thunderstorm WindHalfway$100,000Damaging thunderstorm winds accompanied the destructive hail over much of western Hale County. At least ten wood utility poles were snapped along U.S. Highway 70 and Farm to Market Road 179 near Halfway. Also, several irrigation systems were destroyed. The wind additionally increased the destructiveness of the hail's impact on cotton crops.

The swath began just east of Halfway and persisted through Plainview and ended near Aiken. The maximum wind gust of 63 mph was recorded was by a Texas Tech University West Texas mesonet near Aiken. Furthermore, a tractor trailer was blown over on Interstate-27 just north of Plainview.

Several storm chasers received damage to their vehicles near the Lamb and Hale County line as they observed a developing tornado to their southwest. In addition, some agricultural losses were attributed to hail-damaged cotton crops.
October 2007HailHalfway$10,000A devastating hail swath accompanied a severe thunderstorm that moved southeastward from portions of Castro County over much of western Hale County. Wind blown large hail destroyed more than 15,000 acres of cotton and corn crops from west of Edmonson to near Cotton Center. The cotton crops were mature, and were less than two weeks from harvest. The worst damage occurred near Mayfield, where giant hail combined with damaging winds.
October 2007HailHalfway$10,000Multiple reports indicated that giant hail up to the size of baseballs combined with damaging thunderstorm winds to result in extreme damage to cotton crops along Farm to Market Road 179 from south-southwest of Halfway to Mayfield. Only stalks were left standing in fields and windows were broken in a number homes. Hail up to the size of golfballs remained covering the ground the following morning.

April 2010Heavy RainHalfway-Heavy rainfall began over much of west Texas during the early morning hours of the 15th. By the time rainfall had subsided early on the 17th, 3.71 inches of rainfall was officially measured at Plainview.
June 2010HailHalfway-Multiple reports of golfball size hail were received from the Halfway vicinity from both local emergency management officials and the National Severe Storms Laboratory SHAVE project. No damage was reported.
May 2008HailHalfway-A low precipitation supercell moved eastward from the Olton vicinity (Lamb County) and produced large hail in northwestern Hale County. Law enforcement officials reported quarter size hail at Halfway at 18:37 CST. Storm chasers additionally discovered hail measuring just over one inch in diameter on the ground southwest of Edmonson. This hail fall likely occurred around 19:05 CST as estimated by Doppler radar imagery.
June 2008HailHalfway-Reports from both storm spotters and the public indicated a swath of large hail up to the size of golf balls from just south of Halfway to near Hale Center. No damage was reported.
April 2007HailHalfway-Skywarn spotters and storm chasers continued to encounter large hail up to the size of golf balls from near the Lamb and Hale County line along U.S. Highway 70, and then north of Halfway. Minor damage to young cotton crops also was reported.
June 2007Thunderstorm WindHalfway-Additional severe storms over Hale County produced a swath of severe winds over western and southern portions of the county. Local fire department officials reported 60 mph winds in Halfway. Also, the Texas Tech University West Texas Mesonet site near Abernathy recorded a wind gust of 58 mph. No damage was reported.
October 2007FloodHalfway-Heavy rain and hail resulted in ponding water over many roadways and highways in western Hale County. Water covered portions of U.S. Highway 70 near Halfway through much of the morning hours on the 11th.
