Population over time

2 figures

Daphne grew from 21,570 to 27,462 between 2010 and 2020. These are the recorded population figures Wikidata holds for this place, reached through the Geographic Names Information System number this page is keyed on rather than by name, so they belong to this place and not to another of the same name. Most are census counts, but not all are: an early figure may be a founding or settlement estimate, and an estimate published within five years of a census is left out. The change column is computed, and is left blank where more than 20 years separate a figure from the one before it, because a gap that long is not a change between two counts.

March 1994HailDaphne-A five-minute duration of nickel-size hail was reported by the Daphne Police Department. There was a significant outbreak of severe weather across north and central Alabama on Palm Sunday, March 27, 1994. The severe weather began in the morning around 0900 CST and continued throughout the day and into the nighttime hours. The weather affected Alabama in waves with four waves of weather moving through the state. In trying to unravel the events of the day after the fact, there is a great deal of confusion and uncertainty about the times of many events. This stems from the fact that these waves of severe weather moved over many of the same counties three or four times. Every attempt has been made to get this information as correct as possible. It is also possible that some smaller events may not have been reported since there was so much attention drawn to the three major tornado events in Dekalb, St. Clair, Calhoun, Cherokee, and Shelby Counties.
