Population over time

2 figures

Palominas grew from 212 to 222 between 2010 and 2020. These are the recorded population figures Wikidata holds for this place, reached through the Geographic Names Information System number this page is keyed on rather than by name, so they belong to this place and not to another of the same name. Most are census counts, but not all are: an early figure may be a founding or settlement estimate, and an estimate published within five years of a census is left out. The change column is computed, and is left blank where more than 20 years separate a figure from the one before it, because a gap that long is not a change between two counts.

WhenEvent Place namedHarm What the report says
September 2014FloodPalominas$500,000Multiple road and bridge closures occurred in response to heavy rainfall across much of Cochise County. Increased flows on the San Pedro River eventually over-topped both the Highway 92 bridge in Palominas and the Hereford Bridge, causing both to be closed for a period of time. The Hereford Bridge sustained damage, and it did not re-open until nearly a month later on October 16, 2014. Further east, rainfall in the Old Bisbee area weakened a portion of a hillside. Falling soil and rock collapsed a retaining wall which fell onto a vehicle, while another residence sustained damage. The bridge at Cave Creek Road near Portal which leads to Cathedral Rock cabins was completely washed out. Water rushed around several buildings up to 2 feet deep in some locations but little damage occurred. One resident was evacuated from her home as a precaution. Additionally, many roads in rural Cochise County were closed for a time due to areal flooding.
July 2006FloodPalominas$400,000Flood stage was reached near the Town of Palominas. Coronado National Memorial was closed due to debris across the entire park as well as roadway damage. Parts of the paved road to the Coronado National Memorial were washed away and the unpaved road to Montezuma Pass was impassable, with tons of boulders and other debris piled on the roadway. A trail to a popular cave area and another much used path were washed out. Additionally, large trees were wiped out as well as a picnic area. The Coronado National Memorial's drinking water system was also destroyed by the flooding.
